Bill and I often spent time on the telephone or in his office with an interest that we shared. We collected picture postcards of Nederland but especially of Sabine Pass and Sabine Texas. I have often said that if we combined our collections, Bill and I would have the world's largest collection of the postcards of Sabine and Sabine Pass. Recently I mailed to Bill a photocopy of an early postcard of a school building in Nederland. He wanted the copy to send to the Nederland Heritage Scoiety meeting. I hope that the copy got to the meeting. Bill had so many stories to tell. I wish that I had a recording of all he told me about the Sabine area. He was a wonderful man and, as others have said, we will miss him. I already do miss you Bill.

The hours spent scanning photo albums were rewarding. Bill I feel it was an honor to have known you. You enriched the lives of each of us.

I will miss my friend Bill Quick...I have spent many hours in the past 20 years searching through old county records seeking information for Bill to help him unravel history's secrets. We never could track down the record on the alleged killing in Sabine Pass in the late 1890s, but felt certain some book somewhere had the details and could tell us the names! Sorry, Bill, I never could find out! I'll miss your excited calls, your wonderful smile and your ageless enthusiasm for all things old and historic! You Cannot Be Replaced...no matter what anyone says. You took with you more knowledge of our county than any books could ever tell. You singlehandedly saved the Sabine Pass battlegrounds and found the old fort. God bless you and rest in peace...if you get any names on that killin' send them to me in my dreams!!!

Bill you will truly be missed my friend. You taught me so much about local history. I will miss our phone calls and the visits I made to your house to talk history. You are now with our Savior and your Joyce. I will see you again and when I get there you can tell me about the history of heaven. You will be missed. Rest in Peace My Friend.

Bill's enthusiasm was infectious. His smile could light up a room. I consider him a personal mentor, inspiration, and friend. I and many people all over the world will miss him very much. The peace of the Lord be upon him and his family.

Bill and I were genealogy buddies when I lived in Nederland and Beaumont. He was both helpful and encouraging to me in my efforts, and he teased me relentlessly about being on the wrong side of the Civil War. While I've not talked to him in several years, I remember him as a nice and extremely knowledgeable man. We also talked lots about Jean Lafitte. To his family, please accept my condolences.
