To Audrey and family. I know my Dad, Lloyd Baker, and Dow are having a joyful reunion. I extend my sympathy for your loss and thank you for having been in my life when I was a young women. I remember when I was a teenager you invited our family tothe first barbque I ever went to....it was a new thing to do! Dow was the enthusiastic cook who turned out some fine steaks on your barbque. The memorial pictures are so touchiing and I can see the joy your family shared. Blessing to you each one.

A true Gemini male if ever there was one -- outgoing, affable, a born leader, part businessman, part priest, and sharp as the proverbial tack -- he was that and so much more. I had the good fortune to meet and become friends with Dow Wynn when I entered the Army Reserve in 1956. He was my commanding officer, and for several years after my active duty, he was a mentor. I was young and probably failed him in many ways, but he eventually promoted me to staff sergeant, and this let me know I could actually achieve something in life. I will forever thank him for this, and will never forget him.

I could relate numerous stories, but one will suffice. During two weeks of active duty in 1959, we were setting up camp somewhere in Alabama or Mississippi. In a wooded area, Dow entered the headquarters tent and asked First Sergeant Frank Short -- who, frankly, was very short -- where his desk was. "Well, Colonel, we didn't have room for yours," Frank grinned. Without a moment's hesitation, Dow said, "Well, Frank, you can go find a log outside to write reports on because I'm taking over your desk."

Dow Wynn had contacts everywhere, and through his influence we got to meet lots of VIPs. Just a few memories of a great man. My deepest condolences to the family.

It's comfort know that Heaven is a warmer, happier place now that both of my grandfather's are there together. I love you Grandpa. I'll be sure to have some "carrot cake" for you.

Dow was a great man and a great friend. I loved the time we had him on staff at St. Jude. He was always willing to share his wisdom, a big hug or an encouraging word. He LOVED his family and had many fun stories to share with the rest of us on staff. We missed him but never forgot him and we never will. God Bless and may the good Lord fill you with peace.
