Jef was a wonderful man. I met him when I had the pleasure of being his son, John, Kindergarten teacher at Sallie Curtis Elementary. He was always kind and loved his family dearly. I had no idea he had mentioned me in his memoirs. I so badly wish I could have thanked him. He said I was an Angel...but he is the Angel and I am blessed to have known him. I WILL thank him when we meet again. John, I love you so very much and I am so very sorry for your loss of such a great Dad.

Appreciated our long time friendship with Jef and he will be missed. Always enjoyed our visits and Jef was the first person we would contact when we wanted to know something regarding Beaumont's history or we needed restaurant suggestions when traveling!
Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Jef's legacy is known far and wide in tourism. I now refer to the Big D region of Texas by the "Fort Worth-Dallas" area and think of Jef. We also enjoyed talking about good food. He lived down the road and had citrus to spare for me.

A great loss in the Tourism Industry and Beaumont. I loved to hear Jef's memories of Beaumont - people, places and the rich history. He will truly be missed by all. A Kind and Gentle Man and Friend. We will miss you Jef.

Words are hard to find to express the sorrow we're feeling in the loss of our Dear Friend, Jef. He was the most interesting and informed guy I know. He was never at a loss for topics to share, whether talking about people, places, things or his passion, good food! He loved experiencing the finer elements of life, and prided himself in always knowing the "best" on just about any subject you could imagine. I will cherish our many trips to JuJu's, his favorite crawfish spot, and will always remember his beloved "Cheshire Moon." As you always said to others in this circumstance, "Vaya Con Dios" . . . Go with God. It is heart-breaking to now be sharing those words for you, Dear Friend. Prayers for your family to find strength and peace in your wonderful memories.
