Toliver was very proud of his family, friends, church & country. He lived a life doing good for mankind, and he enjoyed a lot of adventure & excitement along the way. We always looked forward to hearing some of the highlights of his many travels. Without doubt, his was a life well-lived!

To Howard, Jimmy, and John: I worked directly for Toliver from 1967-94. It was a pleasure and challenge to work for him. He was very good at what he did, and demanded that his employees do the best they could. There were many times that he would teach and train us individually or as a departmental group. He ran a tight ship, and the employees and company benefited from that. His involvement with scouting was an enjoyment for him, and his heart swelled with pride when he mentioned each of you receiving the rank of Eagle. Your Mom was a jewel also. I was only around her a few times, but she was very kind and gracious.
Enjoy the memories and reflect upon those times that he was a part of your lives. I will always remember him and be thankful that he was a part of my working career. May the Lord's blessings be with you.

John, We are so very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He was so very proud of you. And you were so good to come and visit and attend church with him all these many years. I will pass the word on to Charlie.

Sad to learn of Tolivar passing. He and Martha were good friends from North End Methodist Church for many years. My prayers are with his boys of which he was very proud.

To the House family: I worked with your Dad for many, many years at the paper mill, and even though I never worked for him directly, I had so much respect and admiration for him and his vast knowledge. Toliver House was a good Christian man, and his life reflected that. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time. May the Lord hold each of you in the palm of His hands and give you peace.

Toliver, I first met you in my homeland Scotland, when you came to see your Grandson Hunter Graduate to become an Eagle Scout. I was balled over by your charm, handsome good looks and such a perfect gentleman. Since then, I have spent many times in your company, enjoying listening to many of your stories from your business and personal successes. You were one of a kind, a true gentleman as is all three of your sons. You will be sadly missed in this life. May you rest in peace, you wonderful man.

What a fine man, when Elly and I rejoined Trinity United Methodist Church after we were married Mr. House was the first person to greet us when we walked into the sanctuary on Sunday not just once but every time he saw us. We will truly miss his presence in our lives. May God Bless him and his family during these difficult times.
