I was shocked & saddened to learn of Miss Bonnie's death. Both my girls took ballet from her back in the 80s. There's rarely a time that I drive by the studio and not reminice about those wonderful days. One Christmas, I made a wooden moon faced Santa necklace, as a gift from my girls to her. Many years later, after my girls were no longer taking, I ran into her, and she not only remembered my girls, but reminded me of the Santa necklace that I made her. She said she still wore it at Christmas. That really touched my heart. Miss Bonnie, may you RIP.

I am so sorry about the loss of your Mom, what an extraordinary Lady!!! I was fortunate enough to be under her tutelage at Miss Judiths....I used to LOVE watching her play Swan Lake her arms so graceful and her neck actually looked like a Swan. Then at Msgr. Kelly High school she formed the Ballet Troupe which I was lucky to once again learn dance from your mom...Such a Fine and poised lady who is now dancing with the Angels and your precious Dad!!!
Much Love, Bridget Teare <3

In 1972, my mother was advised to enroll me in ballet class to help correct my flat feet. When my pediatrician, Dr. Edmund Beck discovered that my mother had enrolled me in classes at a dance studio other than Bonnie Cokinos School of Dance, he chastised her saying that Miss Bonnie would not only make me a ballerina, she would make me a lady. Years later I enrolled my daughters in dance classes with Miss Bonnie. My youngest daughter Hannah danced with the studio and Beaumont Ballet Theatre for eight years until we moved to East Texas at the age of 12. Today, Hannah is a wife and mother and teaches dance in Tyler, TX. Miss Bonnie's influence knows no boundaries. She imparted a love for dance and for teaching that has burned in my daughter's spirit since she was very young. In her bio for her last performance of Cinderella with Beaumont Ballet Theatre, Hannah wrote that she wanted to be like Miss Bonnie when she grew up. At 22 years old, she is fulfilling that dream. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Miss Bonnie, you left a marked impression on my childhood self I carry with me to this day. I feel like I literally grew up in your dance studio. You taught us that hard work really does pay off. I will never forget how happy it made me to please you. Your look of approval was like winning a prize. And that clap, that eardrum crushing clap you produced from those elegant hands will always remind me to stand up straight and stop giggling. And Miss Bonnie, you were the definition of a lady. I will be lucky to pass on even just a tiny sliver of the grace you taught me to my daughter, Chloe. Today is a sad day and I will certainly cherish the memories. ❤️❤️
