I was saddened to hear of our community's loss of a great educator and an even greater person. Reading her comment in my old yearbook I realize that she had me figured out completely. She was well aware that I was not going to work to my potential and she never tried to force me to. She was always patient and helpful when I would go to her with a problem. Somehow she managed to teach a kid that did not care to learn and make me think it was my idea. Hopefully all of the students she inspired to become teachers will be half as good as she was. Rest easy Mrs. Essie, you have definitely earned it.

Mrs. Essie was an inspiration to an entire generation of students. Her legacy can be seen in the lives of my family and friends as well as thousands who sat in her class. May she rest in peace.

Marleen and I were very saddened to hear of Mrs. Espinosa's passing. She was always one of the "cool teachers" despite teaching some of the hardest classes! I purposely took all my math classes at Lamar immediately after graduating from East Chambers knowing I would need her assistance. I probably spent more time at her house than my own that summer with her dragging me through those classes. She was the kind of teacher who inspired others to teach. Such as sweet and nice lady who will be missed. Our condolences to you Coach Espinosa and your family. God's blessings to you all. Chuck & Marleen Posterick

Ms. Essie was a wonderful friend and teacher. We will miss her smiling face, her kind words, and her loving nature. May she rest in peace and her family be comforted in knowing she is walking with Jesus in her heavenly home.

What a beautiful soul! She was a blessing in my life, because I followed in her footsteps as I taught HS Math for 23 years. She served as mentor to me as an educator and never really knew it. My wife and I attended mass during Easter in Winnie and I was able to visit her, catch up , but more importantly, tell her how she influenced me throughout the years. May you find peace in knowing that she lives on the hearts of thousands of her students.

Coach Espinosa and Family, Math was my worst subject, But In Mrs. Essie's class, when it got to my turn to work out the answer on the board, she made me feel comfortable. Wonderful teacher but most importantly she was a wonderful, sweet lady who will be missed by so many people. An inspiration. Please know that you all are in our Thoughts and prayers. Love, Chuck and Colleen Fontenot
