Sorry this is so late but we just heard of Jimmy's passing. We were neighbors on 44th street in Austin. Our parents were friends and we had a great time playing together. We managed to stay in touch, first with Frances and then Jimmy. Deepest sympathies to Jimmy's loved ones.

I spent a lot of time with Mr. Bateman at the Kirbyville Library helping him try to put together the book of his history. It was a project that was very near and dear to him and he so wanted to get it done so his family would have it. I was sorry to hear of his passing and just found out today when our Library received a copy of the Kirbyville Banner. It only comes out on Wednesdays, so we were late getting the news and therefore unable to properly express our condolences. We were blessed to have him as a patron and the chance to call him our friend.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Mr. Bateman worked with our dad at Santa Fe and thought the world of him.

I remember the first time i met James. I remember playing with his sons as a little girl and I always enjoyed seeing him through the years as he would come to town for visits. He will be truly missed!
