To Helen and girls: Mr. Ratliff was one of the greatest men that I ever worked for. He was patient with me; taught me lots about the law and about life. I thought he was the best attorney I ever knew; he cared about his clients. He also expected the tip top best from his employees; as best as I could edit my work, if there was ever a letter or comma out of place, he found it. I was green as a gourd when he hired me. As I learned about the real world and how people sometime were, he would listen to me vent. You two daughters were about the same age as my two sons; you all brought fun times for us to laugh about. Mr. Ratliff loved you all so much. My prayers are with you.

I will miss you, Roger. I've known you and Helen both since I was just a child and have the greatest respect for both of you. I can never think of all the work at Silsbee Little Theater without simultaneously thinking of you up there in the sound booth, quietly keeping it all going, steady as a rock, lending stability to creative folk. You gave me courage when my knees and voice. The Ice House Museum would not be what it is today without your hand. There are so many areas of Silsbee and Hardin County life that bear the imprint of your spirit and energy. Although I am no longer there, I know that you have positively influenced many levels of Silsbee's city government and community. Take a bow, Roger. With a fond farewell, Terry Garrett Richard

Sad to hear this... Roger was an outstanding cadet and friend that I knew in our "old Army outfit C-AAA" at Aggieland. I missed catching up with him before he departed and send my condolences to his family. God rest his soul.....
