Mr. Lawrence was my Industrial Arts teacher at Hamshire Fannett High School in 1964. He expertly guided me in making two end tables for my Mother, and when she died, I inherited and still have them. I won first place at the end of the year competition, and he was so proud of my project. He always cared about and took great interest in each student, and provided great teaching and leadership guidance to his young students. To my great pleasure and surprise, last year at our 50th year high school reunion, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence graced the class with their presence. In talking with Mr. Lawrence I was amazed that not only did he remember me and my project, he remembered every detail - design, type of wood, hardware. I could not believe after 51 years that he would have such recall. I was very pleased to have had this visit. Few teachers remain in your memories who really cared about his students and left a positive influence on their lives. My prayers are with you Mrs. Lawrence and your family. I know he will be greatly missed. Dale

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Lawrence. Every time I cut a piece of lumber, I almost always think of what I learned in his shop class at HF. His shop and mechanical drawing classes were some of my favorites.

Tom was a good man. I knew him at Hamshire school and also worked next door to his veterans office in Beaumont for several years. He loved working with the veterans who were widows and widowers to get them the help they needed. He was always jolly and had a joke for us. Rest in Peace, Tom. My prayers are with his family

I remember Tom from his Veterans' Affairs position with Jefferson County. I was not only a client at that time, but he would give me a radio interview on those situations at the drop of a hat. I am truly sorry to his of his passing; our area has lost a great public servant, and you, his family, have lost a man who adored you all. Please accept my condolences.
