My condolences to the Schroeder family on the passing of "Mr. Ickey". He was the first rodeo contractor that I was introduced to when I came to this area. Those Tuesday night buck outs at the Quarterhorse Arena were always a hoot. Prayers for the family.

Ickey was a everyday word in my younger days. He hosted a great youth rodeo series, and many of the people I knew and know grew up in his backyard. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and he represented the atmosphere well. I wish I could say something classy to ease the family, but that's not me. Great man who helped an entire generation or two live their dreams whether it was for a year or 10. I know he has family that will carry his memory long into the future but he also has a couple of generations of cowboys and cowgirls that will not forget him. Thank you Ickey for some of the great memories of my life.
Rest in peach Mr. Schroeder and thank you for all you did and the memories I can never replace.

My dad, Donnie (Donald) Maddox talks highly of this family. Dad told me the story of Punky talking to God the day of his accident and Dad says that story has always stuck with him. Dad also tells another story of Ickey walking 13 miles to tend to his cattle after his back surgery. Impressive! Dad is now preaching at the Pineland Cowboy Church and his phone number is 409-622-1586.
