An earlier comment in the guestbook by Ms. Allen says that Lonnie (the boss) once made her cry. Golly, Ms. Allen, he made me cry many times. Depending on the density of your head, you eventually learned to do it his way. As soon as you grasped that fact your work life became much easier. I never intended to have a career in banking. But Lonnie hired me back some three times after I had left Lamar Bank to try some other way to make a living. I think it was a matter of timing. I'd show up asking for a job right after he made someone cry resulting in their leaving and he had a position to fill - quickly. I loved Lonnie Weir like my big brother and he was the best banker that I ever came in contact with. Rest in peace Lonnie. And Vita, may the Lord bless and keep you. Wayne Brasher

Dear Vita & Margaret,
please accept my condolences on Lonnie's passing. I intended to come by the funeral home this afternoon, but I went to the Cathedral this morning to help count the Christmas & Sunday collections & we did not finish till late in the day & I got distracted with a very late lunch & other errands.
daddy always respected Lonnie & appreciated all he did for him & so I say thank you.
daddy & momma always enjoyed yalls company & momma being widowed now 17 years will enjoy it again. give her a call. come by & see her. come over for pasta. stay in touch.

Vita you and Lonnie mean so much to me, he was such a nice man and he made me laugh and feel at home every time I went to your house. I'm going to miss him a lot. My heart goes out to you and your daughter,and I will keep you both in my prayers, and may his soul rest in peace.
