It has been an honor to know and work with Jerry the last few years. He was as fine a person as I have ever known. May God bless his family and other friends.

Such a sudden and unexpected loss. We met out here at Motiva in our Projects Group. We soon found out we both had an interest in old cars. He told me about his 1960 Corvette, and told me how long he'd had it. He told me it needed an engine changeout, and I volunteered to do it for him at no charge just to be able to say that I had worked on a 1960 Corvette! We completed the changeout, and he would tell me how it was running and where he had driven it each weekend. He really got a kick out of being able to drive that thing again, and I was happy for him. We enjoyed each others company both here at work and at home. I will miss Jerry. All of us out here who worked with him or came into contact with him knew him as the very best of a human being. A gentle soul who had surprising interests. He is already missed.

Liz and family, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of my oldest friend. We were childhood buddies from West Lucas Drive, inseparable as kids, riding our bicycles everywhere then Go Karts. Jerry bought a scuba tank [about 1959 or 60] and we went to the river to try it out, then we joined the Hammerhead Divers Club in Beaumont and were certified, we went diving with the club far out in the Gulf, we dove as partners. I attended many little league games with him as baseball was one of his favorites. We also went camping and I will never forget us riding our bicycles to a midnight show at the Jefferson Theater to see Bernadine. I remember Jerry's first car, a blue 1955 Chevrolet he bought from another friend Kenny Castille. Jerry was one of the all time 'good guys', everyone liked him. There is no doubt he will be missed by many but now he resides in heaven. God Bless Jerry & Liz, and the family.

Don, I was so sad to hear about your father. Please know that I am thinking of you and your family. This is one of the toughest things in life to go through but I know you are surrounded by more love and friendships that you will ever need. I am keeping all of you guys in my prayers.
Love, Mary Liz Gaasch

I was privileged to work with Jerry at RDS. His Christianity was evident to all & he was a pleasure to work with. He was so proud of his family and grandchildren. I am sad to hear of his death. I pray for Liz & each of his loved ones during this time of loss.
