My sweet friend JoAn, you were such an inspiration to me. Although we were both church members at FBC Nederland, we didn’t get to know one another well until I started teaching at Edison Middle School with you. You took me under your wing and were so kind and helped me through a very lonely transition from industry to education. You would come to my room to visit and always offer a word of encouragement. Then, again you were there for me when I needed a support system the most—you helped me to cope with having an elderly parent in a nursing home. Your mom was just down the hall from mine and when you would visit with us, you were a light in the darkness with your cheerful spirit! Even after your mom passed away, you would come back and visit with my mom! The two of you could talk endlessly about small East Texas towns and the old days. I always looked forward to sitting close to you & James at Worship Service and getting a hug and sweet greeting. I have missed my friend but know that the next time we meet, you will know me once again and we will enjoy Heaven’s eternity and beauty. You will forever have a special place in my heart.
