I had the pleasure of being neighbors of Pat and Ray's for several years before Pat died and before I moved into a retirement community. They were a delightful couple and very helpful to me as a single person. We shared a mutual love of dogs. On occasion, Ray took care of my dog when I needed to make a trip. He maintained a beautiful place and was a fine person.
A fellow neighbor who saw the obituary called me and wanted me to mention that she, too, appreciated him as a neighbor. Her name is Christine Sharman.

I knew Mr. Powell and his lovely wife when I was in high school. Years later, I got to see him again at Calder Woods when my husband and I were there visiting my mother. I'll always remember his kindness, sense of humor and laughter.

Rest in Peace Ray. I hope you are reunited with family members now and having a great time. We are so sorry that we can't be in attendance but we hope the family knows of our love and the love of our Dad, E.L.Hardy, for Ray. You and Daddy were so close in age, only 10 years apart to be nephew and uncle. We remember all the good times ya'll had. We will miss your smile and good humor.

I will never forget my first encounter with Uncle Ray, it was in Wiesbaden, Germany when he came to visit his brother Clifford. He was just such a likable person and I always looked forward to his visits over the years. I have great memories and such admiration for this man..............love you Uncle Ray. Til we meet again!

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the family for the loss of your loved one. I lost my father last year and something that comforts me is that Jesus promised at John 5:28,29 that he is going to resurrect those in the grave. Until then, it is just like they are sleeping. (John 11:11-14) I hope that your family will find comfort in this too.

Our thought and prayers are with the Powell family.
Ray was a wonderful fun loving man and he lived a full
life. He will be missed and remembered.
I'm sorry I can't be there.

Sorry to hear/see of Ray's passing. He and I were great Buddies as schoolmates and young men just starting out in life in Port Arthur. Had lots of fun double and triple dating with friends.
After Neches Butane lost tract, too mush water under the bridge.?? J. V. Chauvin
