I've rarely known a man who cared so much for others. Lupe was a splendid example of the proper way to live. His affection and concern for everyone that he met was remarkable. I thought he was just being nice when he agreed to portray Santa with the Caravan of Carols. When I saw his joy as he interacted with the elderly folks at the nursing homes, I knew that he was getting more than he gave!

Nancy, Carol joins me as we send our love and prayers to you and your children.

Dear Nancy,
I can remember the days when my father, Hal Shaw worked with Lupe. Those were the good Ole days. Lupe will be missed. May the Flores family find happiness in the wonderful memories of Lupe.
Love and Prayers,

Lupe was full of life, full of love, and just amazing beyond compare. The grief over his loss extends way beyond Jefferson County. I have known Lupe for most of my life. My family met him in his law school days when he was our next door neighbor and he quickly became one of the family. Some of my most cherished memories include him: weekly canoeing trips, drive-in movies, sledding, BBQs, Tex-Mex food, and the kids (me included) singing silly songs in the back seat of his big, black Mercury (e.g. "16 Tons"). Back then, the entertainment was cheap, but the memories were priceless. He cherished his family, his friends, never met a stranger and the world is a better place because he was in it. Nancy, Jamie, Chris, and Andy, sending love and prayers your way!

What a huge loss to our community! Lupe was as beloved as anyone I've ever known. And he was always ready to hitch up the grill for any event. In our case, it was for Ty and Kelly's wedding celebration. Nancy and family, Donna and I share your grief.

One of the saddest days of my life was hearing of the passing of this true gentleman, mentor of many, friend of thousands, wonderful family man and true heart of charity!

My siblings, parents and SPHS classmates will never forget this kind, generous, loving and hard-working human being that graced our lives!

Our hearts go out to Nancy and all of Lupe's family and friends, and may God grant you all tremendous peace and comfort during your time of sorrow.

Nancy and family, please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I have many fond memories of Lupe, through out all of the years that y'all spent with us at First Methodist Church, especially those years that both of you served as our Sunday School Teachers. Love to all of you during this difficult time.
