Rebecca "Becky" Garza Moreira

It is with great shock that I learned of Becky 's passing. My prayers go out to all her children and family. What a beautiful person I had come to know as we met at times for mass in the chapel and when she would walk over to the Counseling department at the Education bldg. at Lamar.
I have a picture of her and 2 other Lamar colleagues that was taken of us with Bishop Curtis Guillory.. We 4 had gone to mass at the Lamar Newman Student Center for Mardi Gras lunch and celebration. Her smile echoes the one in the picture. We all remarked that she was the best looking of the group!
I will send a copy of it to friend, Mavis Fore at St. Anthony Catherdral Basilica. In a short time, she impacted me greatly.
It was a pleasure knowing her.

I am sending my fondest condolences to Becky's three children and her other relatives as well as to her partner. I met you, her children, when you were little. I was a young American bride of a Brazilian in Rio de Janeiro when Becky and I became friends. No one could forget Becky's smiling face or her kind and loving manner. She also loved tennis. Becky was just game for everything! No doubt she is now exploring Heaven and is dancing with Jesus. Her only sorrow would be in leaving you all.
Becky's demise came as a shock to me; I will always remember her with delight.

Becky, I will miss your smiling face and warm hugs. My prayers go out for your precious family.

Thank you thank you for the wonderful words for Rebecca's life. Exactly as I have remembered her. Becky was an enormous influence in my life. I admired her spirit of delight and joy and adventure. She made me believe at an early age that there was a wide world out there and I needed to see it and seize it and dance my way through it. I hold a very special place in my heart for all of the Garza family and express my deepest gratitude for their love and acceptance throughout the years. Please give Alice, Joe, Mom and Dad a great big hug for me Becky. Dance on!

I'm going to miss that wonderful "Hello" of Becky's went we call to talk about our life in Rio and our kids. She had so much energy and was always on the go.
My heart goes out to Ronnie, Gina and Mary. My prayers are with you. She loved all of you so much.
I'll remember her just like the photo, she always had a smile on her face.

Becky was a beautiful person, so energetic and happy. She was always thinking about her family and always working hard to help her children and grandchildren to succeed in life. She was so proud of you all, I know you will miss her greatly.
