Audrey was my secretary for many years. We all loved her very much.

Dear Ronny, Gini, Buddy, and Jan,

I am so very sorry for your tears and grief with the passing of your mom. What a beautiful picture of her here! It completely captures my memories of Aunt Audrey and HER momma, Mrs. Carter. They each brought such cheeriness, warmth, and sincere caring to our families.

I'm thankful that we cousins are reconnecting and building a "new" family, just as our mothers and fathers are doing on the other side of the moon!

You and your kids are in my heart and thoughts. May you find deep comfort in the memory of your mother's love and laughter.

Mom - words cannot convey what a beautiful, kind, loving, unselfish and inspiring mother you are. You are amazing and we all go forward in the love you showered on your family and friends. You taught us by example to be patient, to listen, to empathize and love each other as God loves us. You were so strong in your faith and dedication to family that we always knew that comfort could be just a call or visit away. Thanks for sharing so many dear days and nights with me over the years since Dad left us. I miss bringing you your first cup of coffee each morning and patting your hand each night. We miss your laughter and stories about Mammaw and Mississippi and your wonderful rice and gravy. Thanks for your wit and wisdom, love of music, books and gracious hospitality. You are the best Mom a child could ever dream of having!

It's been many years since I've seen Audrey, but I have so many wonderful memories of her when I was a child, as we lived across the street from her and the family on Evalon in Beaumont. She & Dow were my brothers & I god-parents back then and her kindness, smile and love of God & family (on top of that apple-raisin salad) will be remembered best! It was a time in my life I didn't know about God, but saw Him through her & Dow's agape love for us. I know they both are in Heaven...with Jesus and with no doubt! Sending all the family & loved ones love during this difficult time.

I have so many wonderful memories of my grandmother dating back to the Port Arthur days to present. A grandson couldn't have wished for a more loving, kind and caring grandmother. She always listened to my problems, was genuinely happy for my successes and always welcomed me and my family with a loving smile. She was quick to forgive and forget and understood better than anyone else I ever have ever known how flawed we all are. My wife, Sierra, spent many a weekend with my grandmother talking about family and the Lord and they really became close over the last 17 years. I know Sierra considers Audrey her grandmother too and will miss her greatly. I can't begin to describe how how proud and honored I am to have been your grandson.

Our wonderful secretary in the English Department of Lamar for so many years. Early on in my academic career (which began at Lamar in 1976) she was never less than helpful to me, often going above and beyond to help me complete tasks. I loved her dearly, as I did Dow, who once took my creative writing class. Just great folks. God bless you all.

Audrey was a wonderful lady. I worked with her from 1982 until her retirement in 1985 in the English Department at Lamar. She was a joy to work with. Such a kind and classy lady. I remember her deep love for her family and her faith. I know how much she will be missed. Rest with the Angels Audrey!

We never heard Audrey say a negative word as long as we knew her. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone.
We are thankful that she gave our family one of her grandsons. Todd Frels, as a husband to our daughter, Sierra and father to our precious grandaughter Holly.
Thank you Audrey, Rest in the arms of the Lord>

Grandma always had the most contagious laugh, warmest hugs, and kindest soul a person could share.
The "Roast and Rice and Gravy Gang" will miss her dearly, and always cherish the sweetest memories we all have of her.
We take great comfort in knowing that Grandpa is reunited with his "stupefying" love, and that heaven is a much greater and more loving place with her there.
We all miss you Grandma, and we love you very much.
