Love from Kelly and Jack to Fred's family. It began with medical school for both Jack and Fred in Galveston, and eventually led to both practicing orthopedic surgery in Beaumont many years. There are fun memories between the Bessells and the McNeills, the last being their 50th medical school reunion. That was a happy, last time with Fred and Mary Lynn. Jack and I will miss them.

I was sorry to get see the news about your dad. Your mother purchased daylilies from me and shared tips on growing bonsai. I had looked up another death on the Broussard's sight and recognized Fred's picture. With sympathy, Anita Harman

Heartfelt sympathy and praying for comfort for Dr. Bessell's family and friends. He operated on my toddler sister Tami's arms in mid 60's after a tragic accident where she fell out of the back of a pickup and we almost lost her. For almost fifty years we have been thankful God saved her. Our Mama passed suddenly unexpectedly July 15, 2013 at age 75. I know they are in a perfect place resting in peace free from pain after a job well done. Peace and Blessings to you.

Dr. Bessell leaves an incredible legacy in the many people he healed, the many lives he touched, and a wonderful marriage that produced three outstanding men in Keith, David and Eric. A good man and a great life lived.

Saddened to hear of Dr. Bessell's passing. He was a very good surgeon. He repaired my badly fractured ankle on Christmas day 1990. I told him I was missing my daughter's first Christmas that day. He said well I guess you can tell her you spent it with Santa Claus and he gave you a lifetime weather change detector.

We have many happy memories of times spent with Fred and Mary Lynn. Fred was a generous, compassionate, big-hearted, good man and friend. He leaves large footprints for his family's guidance. We send our sincerest sympathy to the family.
