Elizabeth W. Holliday

I was blessed to have Mrs. Holliday as my Sunday school teacher at St. Paul's United Methodist Church for several years when I was in elementary school back in the 1960s. She was always so nice to me and I looked forward to each Sunday with her. We had a party at her house one time and she let us run all over and play with her kids' toys. There was a punching bag and I hit it so hard I broke it. I guess I was trying to show off for the boys. I was scared to tell her what I had done, so I left without saying anything. The next Sunday she talked about it in our class and I felt so bad that I confessed. After 50 years I still remember her kindness as she forgave me for what I had done. It was an important lesson that helped me learn about taking responsibility as well as the importance of forgiveness. This incident from so long ago proves what an impact she made on one person, but I know there were many more who were blessed to have known and loved her, and that she will be greatly missed.

We are so saddened to learn of her passing. She was a sweet lady and loved by both of us. We are happy to have known her and in a way been part of her "extended" family. She is with her Lord now.

I had the honor to take care of Ms. Holliday for four years. She always brought a smile to my face and provided a good laugh everyday.
