To the Gist Family, My sincere condolences in the passing of your mother. She and I were friends for more than 30 years, and I will miss her sweet voice. I also know how much she loved her children, you were the light of her life, and when her grandchildren came along she was doubly blessed. She was funny, intelligent and saw God in every flower, leaf of a tree, and in all living things. She enjoyed her cats and liked to collect figurines of birds. She was truly a wonderful person whom I love and will miss..

She is with her loved ones now on the other side and is no longer suffering. God in his infinite knowledge comforts us with fond memories.

With deepest sympathy,
SHIRLENE LEVERKUHN SMITH

I remember so well the events and camping with Eleanor and Girl Scouts. That seems so many years ago and we had so much fun. She made our activities a blast and I always looked forward to being with her. I was blessed for knowing her.

Susie and I were really good buddy friends when we were in 5th and 6th grades at Giles School. We lived just one block from the Siros' bustling home: oh, how I loved being with Susie, the twins, Brother, Jane and the usual cadre of other neighborhood kids! Susie and the family would be amazed at what all 'things' have stuck with me from being with you all so much! Susie's birthday was June 28, mine was June 27, same year. We had so much fun from that! If I'd just been born 25 minutes later, we'd have had the same birthday! Our family moved from Beaumont the summer of '57; I surely did miss Susie. I am not at all surprised she took the career path she took. At school, Susie frequently 'stood up' for kids that were being bullied. She often mediated disputes among classmates and made most happy. Susie was a dear person, smart as a whip and sharp as a tack. When we came across each other years later, in '77 or '78, it was like no time had passed! It was then we found that we were both really big into genealogy. She even went with me to a gen. group meeting. She was keenly proud of all her family lines! I will continue to miss my good friend Susie, but know that she will be watching over me and others just as she did in school. Rest in Peace, dear Susie. Until later, your buddy, Mary Wallace Sloan

Rest In Peace Eleanor Gist, My heartfelt condolences go out to your family and friends as I pray to God for comfort, guidance, peace of mind and heart for all who know and love you. May your spirit shine bright in our Heavenly Fathers light as you watch over your loved ones. Let us rejoice knowing all the lives you have touched. You are one of our guardian angles sent from heaven until we meet again. You are 1 in a million and I am so thankful for your advice, friendship, guidance, laughs and talks over the years. We all begin and end life with a date, the most important thing is not the date but the dash between those dates. May Eleanor be remembered by how she lived her dash with all that makes her special and loved by family and friends near and far. I will miss your humor, kindness and our famous 6 hour phone calls and talks! Always and forever Eternal Love

You and yours are in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Eleanor. She was a special lady, always wonderful and kind. I enjoyed our visit at the SPHS reunion last fall and hoped I'd see her again in 2015. She will be missed by her friends.

Susie, you and your entire family will be a part of me for a lifetime! I can't help but smile when I think of you, Marilyn, Carolyn, and the long summer days we spent together. Then time flew by and you and I re-established our friendship with our long telephone conversations.... How I treasure those calls now!! Now you will live in my heart....
