To Debbie, Brandon, and Travis: There are so many good things to say about your husband, father and my brother. I picture his walk, the way he laughed, and the way he knew how to “fix” anything you brought to him. He was sweet, kind, compassionate, funny, rough, stern, and serious all mixed together. He was someone that a lot of people depended on…not just family, but many of his friends. I understand that when he had to leave Total, others took over things he had been doing that wasn’t necessarily his to do and they didn’t realize that Gene was doing more than his share. He was a provider, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, son and son-in-law, brother-in-law, worker, co-worker, and friend…the go-to guy. You have a lot of memories…there’s a lot of stories that will bring laughter. Missing him will be the task that will be set before us every day. But remember the road we traveled to this point; know that one day we will see him again. God’s hand was in this and we were all touched by the Word that was ministered along the way. We may not see the reasoning now, but Gene knows now what it is. I pray for peace to fill you and the love of Jesus to envelop you and bring you through this. You boys have so much of Gene in you. I can see bits and pieces of him in both your words and actions…and as D-Dot says, “even that little scowl between the eyebrows.” I love you and I will miss him along with you. He left you his last name and no one can take that…what a blessing. Love you all. Aunt Sandy
