Bobby was a gentleman in every way, loved by friends and family. He was always willing to share and give to others. We lived with Grandmother and Nanny when I was very young. At six years of age I was told he willingly shared his chicken pox with me. I was 6 months old. He loved beautiful flowers, making certain that roses had a fragrance for everyone to enjoy. As a young man at home, he cared for his mother and dad, making life easier. During his driving years, he always was the designated driver for Grandmother. He made trips to the store, laundry, visiting friends, etc. to keep his mother in touch with others. She never drove.
And spring cleaning, my what a pleasure to behold. Ms. Mamie would get everyone involved. Bobby had to clear one room at a time literally and move everything outside the house for the cleaning of that room. He beat the mattresses and put them in the sunshine. He scrubbed the walls and floor, removed curtains, rods and anything else that needed attention. The floors had to be waxed also. After a while everything went back into the room ready to continue until the entire house was cleaned. This was probably one of his favorite jobs. Rita, Nita and Velva took pleasure in this time of the year also.
His smile was a trade mark for everyone to remember. Chester commented about his pleasant smile when they met for Bobby's baptismal service. There were about ten of us privileged to attend the service. Even though he was weak in body, there was a smile of contentment on his face. He will be missed.
Our love goes to Clair, John and the family. I admonish you to lean on Jesus as you travel through these days of adjustment, sorrow and change. Jesus can make the journey easier for anyone that will ask for His help. Bobby will be missed by all.
