Not a lot of people know this but when I first became a reporter, at age 17, Jenny was my mentor at the Beaumont Enterprise. She brought me around the courthouse and even showed me the room where reporters would write their stories after Commissioners Court meetings or a big trial. She showed me how to pull lawsuits and find criminal files and to know the difference between district courts and county courts. And while Miss Carolyn taught me that the most important thing you will ever write about someone is their obituary, Jenny helped me learn to ask the hard questions and how to get to the heart of a story. Back in the day, she was fearless and feared by many, who were worried what she might uncover about them. I would like to think that some of her doggedness rubbed off on me along the way and maybe played a part in helping me to have a successful career in investigative journalism. From time to time, we would chat here on Facebook but it had been years since I last saw her. I feel bad that I didn't find out about her passing until today. I was completely shocked when it was announced at the press club meeting. To her family and friends who will read this, Jenny will be missed by people you have never known and throughout her career, there is no doubt her words touched people that she never met. With that, I say "farewell" to my teacher, my colleague but most importantly, my friend. Goodbye Jenny Narkiewicz, you left your mark on this world and you will be missed.

Jenny! Such a professional editor and writer. She scoured my work at both the Beaumont Enterprise and Port Arthur News. You'd just want to hang around Jenny for her amazing stories. She clued me in on myriad things, from AP style to claddagh rings.

I am still in denial and feeling lost. I find it hard to believe we will not have our mutual counseling sessions aka dinner at Chili's any longer. She will be missed so much. Throughout the years, her heath has been touch and go, but she always beat it. She beat cancer...and something else came and robbed her.

Jenny was a very special friend to me for many years as a fellow courthouse denizen. I still proudly display some of the attorney cartoons she gave me over the years. I am so shocked at her sudden passing. Jan and I had no idea her condition was at all serious. We shall miss her friendship and wish for you God's comfort and peace.

So sorry to hear of Jenny's passing. I was among her coworkers at The Beaumont Enterprise. She was way too young. May God comfort friends and family.

For Jenny's family and friends, I mourn for your loss. As one of her former colleagues at the Enterprise, I can remember her excitement at responding to a police call on the scanner. She was an enthusiastic reporter and loved the news biz. Many of her former colleagues have responded to her passing with messages on Facebook, where we would see Jenny's posts.
