Mrs. Ratcliff,
We are heartbroken and so very sad for you and your sons. We didn't know Teddy, but reading the posts we can tell he was an incredible person. Your sons are blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world! All these years later, Hannah still remembers "Officer Ratcliff" visiting her kinder classroom with "his uniform on" as she puts it. He was larger than life in the eyes of those babies! He has touched so many. We pray you will someday find peace healing from this tragedy. We pray your sons will have the loving memories of their father fill there hearts during this extremely difficult time.
Always,
The Rumseys

I first met Teddy when he started dating my sister Cheryl many years ago. I liked him immediately. After reading all of the comments here it is obvious that everyone liked everything about him. What can I say that hasn't already been said? He was a wonderful friend, brother-in-law, colleague, police officer, polygraph examiner, and a leader with Troop 181 in Lumberton. I have so many fond memories of times we spent working midnights together with all the old friends. Teddy was good at everything he did. He was a hard-working patrol officer. He really loved working interdiction. He and I attended polygraph school together and I am still amazed at how easily the training came to him. Very sharp mind with a keen understanding of what makes people tick. His love for his family was so very obvious in everything he did. Cheryl, Josh, Chase, and all the rest of us have been so very blessed to have had Teddy in our lives. I will cherish all of my memories of Teddy, and I already miss him.

Our prayers go out to Sgt. Ratcliff's wife, family and brothers of BPD. Our son-in-love served with him on BPD and thinks very highly of him. We attended Woodland some years back and knew the Crosses there. Please know that we are thinking of you and rejoice in the assurance that you will be reunited one day.

I didn't know him personally but I can remember him being the one to administer the polygraph test that I had to take to be hired on at the police department. I am still employed there and have been for the past 7yrs and felt we were all one big family and are always there for another in both good and bad times. Sending my condolences to the family!
